Hello my surfer friends, we met once again at this beach in Barcelona, where the waves were challenging us until the last rays of light set over the city.
Today I would like to talk a little more about my work as a surf photographer, since many of you have asked me the same questions in private messages, I decided it´s about time and I hope I´ll not bore you.
I´ve been around a long time now in the world of photography and surf and in these past few years I evidently spent many hours and energy representing the surfer of the Mediterranean in his natural environment “The Sea”, always chasing those rare swells and documenting them from inside and outside the water, so one day you can tell your grandchildren “I used to surf this wave, right in front of my house”.
It´s not an easy job. Things do not always go as smooth as it may seem and it takes a lot of time and resistance to have a few good and some great photos at the end of the day, time in which I´m not able to surf a single wave and believe me when I say I´m a bodyboarder with all my heart and soul. If I did spend the time surfing, these photos wouldn’t exist, only what remains engraved in our retinas to remember those incredible and magic surf sessions.
Sometimes I spent many hours without food or drink, waiting for someone to throw me a piece of bread, hahaha, all for the sake of my great and tireless profession, which I hope
you´ll value more after reading these lines. And not just my work but anyone´s who´s there photographing, filming, or flying drones, which sometimes fall from the sky or disappear over the horizon forever. All of us who have water leeking into our water housing, ruining a camera. Or having the windshields of our car broken to steal part of our equipment. All those aficionados of photography and audiovisual deserve great respect for their efforts and dedication in telling the world that here in Barcelona waves, surf and bodyboard do exist, that we also get moving like any other surfer when a swell touches the coasts of the Mediterranean, swinging between the waves and enjoying this magic place until we grow scales.
Enough of the words, enjoy the photos, I hope you´ll like them.
Pura vida to all and I´ll see you in the water!
